Hello all. I have managed to put up a MICS in our office building and share it with our tenants. Everything works great but the 4 greeting table limit of the nam is not allowing us to add additional tenants to the system without connecting another MICS. Would anyone know an alternative to the NAM which would allow for more auto attendants or greetings? I expect to have 12 tenants share this switch and each would like to have an auto attendant answer with "You have reached XYZ" etc... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I have ever thought of is to VERY BRIEFLY answer the line with, Thank you for calling the "bank of america building. For the Law offices of Winona Ryder press 1 for the John, Paul and Mary, press 2. You've got 8 first choices there, then each can have a sub menu there for their own departments and needs.

That's the only way I have figured to do it. MRoberts

Thanks MRoberts. I was hoping that a different manufacturer like voicegate would have a better multi-tenant solution yet still be compatible with Norstar stuff. I have been poking around the Internet tonight but I thought I would throw this one out to the xperts our here.

There is an AA only product, developed in Canada, that has what you are looking for. It also has speach recognition. This is a great sounding product. I have just come up to speed on it and will post the details Fri as I don't have them to hand. It would integrate through ASMs (I think).

You might be able to use a second party voicemail or voicemails with Voice mail interface units. I have not set any up so maybe someone else with experience on the VMI could give you a better idea of its capabilities and wether or not it could support mulitple VMI's with multiple Voicemails. The only solution I see without buying more equ. is to just have the specific lines to that tenant ring on one of that tenants phones and have a personal mail box answer. THis limits greatly what you can do but maybe you have some tenants that only are looking for an answering machine???
or the ccr tree option might be a good solution.

Applied Vioce Technology or AVT is a "second party" voice mail that is compatible with the N*.
It's PC based and now it run on windows as opposed to OS/2.
The downside is you would have to spend a lot of money just to keep 12 tenants happy.

Oh yeah! Good show, ShipWright!
Heck I'm certified on those AVT products. I just haven't put one in in about 5 years. I still have the books though. Last time I checked they were about as much as the NAMs I thought.

You can have up to 30 different answering entries! The integration isn't too bad either. It takes an extension per port you use. I'd have to pull out the book to see how many ports it expands to but it will definitely do what you want.

I have a multi tennant situation with about 50 companies now, We have set up the mailboxes as follows, You have reached ABC company to speak with jo blo hit *2250, to speak with jim blo dial *2251 or leave a general message after the tone and someone will get back with you. This is the only way to do it with the Norstar Voice Mail that I know of....
