I have a Dead hard drive ( It spins and makes bearing noise)
I have to send it out to a data recovery firm and would like recommendations. I need a good company that has a reasonable price for their service.
Thanks you guys are great

Would help if you would give some indication of your location.
Cherry Systems in Atlanta has done some work for customers of mine with about 50% success rate, but they are not cheap.

I live in Washington state...hey thanks for the reply.
also if you have a telephone number for them that would be great

You can use the RFQ Blaster at to get quotes from multiple companies with a single request. Additionally the site provides a listing of data recovery companies.

I'm not aware of a good reputable company in Washington. You can try OnTrack Data Recovery, Action Front, Data Mechanix, or Secure Data Technology. With more information about the failure I might be able to send you a company that can help at reasonable prices.

the Drive makes a chirping sound ...the bios picks up the drive but the drive cannot be read with any raw data recovery software. I suspect the bearing went out in the drive and the spin hits the flatspot and slow the disks so it is not spinning at a continuous speed and making the data inaccessable. it is an old drive too so that makes it more complicated
hey thanks for the link...checking on it now
