We just got about 60 new computers where I work and I need to image all of them. They have the Intel D945G boards in them and I can't find a driver for the NIC cards that will work with ZENworks imaging. Anyone have any ideas where I can find one?

TIA,
Nick

Are they Dells? We have GX-620s that have the same chipset in them and they boot to ZENworks fine.

There's 2 different versions one has a onbard broadcom nic and the other has onboard intel nics. The ones that we got have the intel nics, more specifically Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbits/sec) LAN subsystem using the Intel® 82573V/82574V Gigabit Ethernet Controller.

They aren't Dells. We got them from a computer company called MANDA out of Dallas, TX.

The problem could just be that my e1000.o driver is too old for this particular board/nic combo, but I don't know. If anyone has a bootcd.iso file please send it to nick.myers@commerceisd.org.

Thanks.

I found out what the problem was, but I don't know how to fix it. The zen imaging engine that we currently use is running a 2.4.22 kernel which isn't new enough to work with the d945g boards. I found some info on creating a custom boot cd using SUSE 10 that updates the kernel, and it works but not right. Definitely not the way it should. We currently use ZEN 6.5, but I'm unsure of the service pack. I guess my question is do the zenworks service packs update the zen imaging files too?

Yes, the SP does update the linux kernel. ZfD SP2 changes things up a bit, infact, instead of using a custom kernel, they are now using the SLES 9 SP2 kernel when you install SP2 for ZfD. The kernel included with SP2 is 2.6.5-7.191

There is a newer kernel included in the upcomming SP3 for ZfD

Wait until you get to the really fun stuff, like NIC that have not been included in the driver set. Most manufactures do not give you a compiled driver, you need to compile it your self. For it to compile right, you need to do it under the same linux kernel it will run on. Currently building a VM SLES 9 SP2 system so I can do just that for some tablet PC's I need to get imaging done on.
