I know that this question has been posed before, but I would like some other opinions on this. Customer has a Magix 2.1 and would like to use an available DID to be set up as a dedicated remote access line. Is there a clean simple way of doing this? The easier, the better for this guy! Thank you in advance.

one way to do this is to use a single line station w/matching DID trk and wire it to a vacant co line port.
set that port for dedicated RA...it has worked for me.

So let me make sure I have this correct. Put a patch cable between an analog extension port and patch it in to a CO port on the card and then just treat it as a regular remote access trunk?....No extra programming is needed? Just being sure......thanks

Renumber your remote access ext # (default is 889) to a number in your DID range.

yes....you can use an rj11 mt cord....now you have a dial
tone that when programmed for Dedicated RA...will give you
access. No programming needed on the s/l.
It all depends on how simple you want to keep your programming. If didn't have a s/l pack or vacant ports..
and the DID dial plan is 3 digit is the way to go.
P.S. you didn't say how your DIDs were coming to you..
T1, DID trk card????

Use the remote access port, and put in a barrier code for security.

If you have DIDs, there is no reason to use the S/L port looped to the CO port. Just renumber the remote access code from 889 to one of your DID numbers. It will answer on 2 rings, give a stutter dial-tone, and wait for you to enter a valid barrier code.

Now if you don't have DIDs, then yes, do the S/L to CO trick, and call in through an auto attendant.

leave it to your level of Legend programming expertise to
determine which way you go. If you don't feel comfortable
changing the 889 access code to a DID trk number...then go
s/l to CO.

I have a PDF that can step you through the s/l to CO port if needed.

Hey Tommy & Dan, I can't remember, and my test switch is out of the office, but is the 889 access code only on the Magix, or was it on the Legend two?

Thank you very much for all the replies. I learned something from this. Ghostin, I would like to have the PDF that shows how to do it the other way, but how are we going to do this without posting emails out here?

Thanks again, everyone.

Jim

They usually don't want email because of spam. When you post your address, don't use standard email format. You can contact me at ghostin at myway.com. I will send the file to you.
