I keep "losing" Outlook Express

In Outlook Express, very often when I choose to "Switch Identities" while leaving the Internet connection open(dialup), I "lose" Outlook Express. It disappears from the screen and the bottom toolbar. When I click on the desktop icon or the OE listing under "Programs" it does not reappear. I simply cannot "find" the window anywhere, even though it seems to be open and running somewhere.

When this happens the only recourse seems to be to shut everything down and log off, and then log in again -- very inconvenient when I have several browser windows and programs open. But once I do, the OE icon on the desktop works again.

I'm using Outlook Express 6 and Windows XP Home version 5.1.2600

I'll greatly appreciate your help with this!
