I just upgraded a fastrad to work on release 6.1 systems. I want to default it so I can send it out to a customer but the debug proceedure no longer works. It worked before I did the upgrade but not after. I just want an easier proceedure other then opening the unit up and shorting out the battery.

That is exactly what I did. I verified that the unit worked ahead of time with 4.0 software. I used to debug procedure to reset the password at the time. I then went in and did the upgrade and re-tested it with 6.1 That went well enough. I then wanted to reset the password before I sent it out. The proceedure to debug did not work. I was suprised.

The rad I used was a first gen fastrad that needed to be upgraded. What fastrad was yours? First or second?

I just tested mine with 6.1 and it worked. I did not have to do a firmware upgrade to my RAD to make it work with the 6.1, so that might be the reason. Didn't know one was supposed to be required for it. Do you have any literature from Nortel concerning the upgrade that you could share with us?

Sure, no problem. I have a 6.1 compatability matrix that goes into all of the norstar products and compatability. I dont have a place that I could post it but email me and I will send it out.

Richard, Thanks for the matrix. Thought my documentation was up to speed, but that one was not. Still can't get my RAD to fail to try to help you.

Richard, I did a bit more experimenting on this. I re-applied the patch to an older Fast RAD, then tried the debugger. It still worked. Then I tried a different debugger that did not work.
If I use the debugger that needs the date to be APRIL 15, it seems to work every time. That is the one I have always used. Just a bit more for you to go on.

That is weird. I used the same debugger April 15 and in my case it did not work. I even set the date forward and then back to april 15th and it still did not work. Mabe this one just decided not to work with me? I was still able to get into it for programming and setting etc... wierd!
