I just got a cta 100, what else do i need to get Visual Call Manager working (i also do have a dedicated server to run it on), do i need any keycodes or somethign? i have the software (it came with the callpilot)

What's visual call manager as compared to Personal Call Manager?

What i need is a program that i can see whats going on with my phone system (preferably cheap or free)

When you say what is going on do you mean call logging? If so you can use the CDR wrapper but to be honest it is not very pretty and sends raw text to a buffer. You then need to scroll through and pick out the info you want. You can set it up to ftp the info to an FTP server but you will not get the info real time. There are various packages out there but you will pay and all have there limitations.

sorry, what i ment to say is that i would like to see on my screen aswell as the other people the status of the system IE, how many calls are on hold, average hold time, # of operators logged in...

Visual Call Manger is neither cheap or free. It is a product from Convertec. I have a demo up and running on my BCM50. You can demo their software for 30 days on a download from their site at VCM requires a computer running the VCM server software that is connected via IP to either a CTA100 (for a Norstar) or to a BCM using a LAN CTE license. The VCM client software communicates with the VCM server software to show all of the clients the status of all the stations on the system including stations off-hook, ringing, DND, number called/calling and much more. It also has a chat feature built in. The only gotcha that I found is that the VCM clients and the VCM server have to be on the same IP subnet to see each other. The client looks for the server by sending a series of IP broadcasts to the local subnet and awaiting a response from the VCM server to auto-discover the server. This solution does not work in a routed environment where you have more than one network. A nice product if you can afford to license it. Convertec also makes a nice operator console with many of the same features that does work in a routed network. I have sold a few of these so far. Hope that helps.
