I have an HP 7955 Pavilion that I just started using after about 7 months.
The AC97 audio is not working and I know that somewhere I had seen how to restore the Realtek AC97 audio that coems with HP computers. Can anyone help me???

Not sure if this helps as I can't see audio drivers on this page.

It could be that the OS (XP) installs it's own generic versions.

Applying SP2 for XP will probably load a generic Realtek drivers

On the other hand if you can read the lettering on the audio chip you will almost certainly be able to download a sound driver from somewhere like:

or Realtek themselves.

If you haven't got the original recovery disks they still appear to be available through HP.

You can also get the make and model and even serial number of your HP machine and get the drivers from HP.
