Hello to everyone,

I have a 2.1GB hard disk and it's full. I can't see any obvious files that I can delete. So I proceeded to run a scandisk, perhaps there were some lost data clusters or something. The result was that there is over 2GB of user files.

Keep in mind that this is on a public machine at my internet cafe. So really, I have no idea what has been loaded on to this computer.

Can someone help me on how to delete some files and free up some disk space.

Thank you,

Daniel.

Hi - the following might help:
1. In Internet Explorer go to Tools>Internet Options and delete: Cookies, Files (with the option All offline content checked) and History.

2. Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Check what is installed and remove what you don't want.

3. Start>Search - enter *.tmp and let it search - delete everything it finds. Do the same for *.chk

4. Get AdAware6 from: and run it. Delete all the green entries.

5. Get JV16 Power Tools from:

Install and start the program. Go to the Registry Tools box (top one) and then Open Tools from the upper menu bar. Choose Registry cleaner and run it. Delete everything that it says is safe to delete.

This should give you some free space. Enjoy!

Sorry to be so bold, but .. you are running an internet cafe and don't know what is on your PC?

I would get someone in ASAP to fix anything need fixing before you let a paying customer use that!

I would go to and get SPYBOT.
You need to clean all of junk off. Then go into IE and delete all history, cache and cookies.Be sure to put a check in the offline files when delete temp internet files.

The directory \Windows\Temp can accumulate files over time, most of them being named *.TMP and you don't need them.

ALso \Windows\Temp\Tempory Internet Files\Content.IE5 will have one or more folders which have a lot of old files as well. All of these folders may not get cleaned out unless you log on to each user account and then delete all offline files as KimLeece described.
