I have just installed Linux 2.4.22 kernel and I am trying to enable the computer to poweroff itself. I have tried APM builtin to the kernel, and also as a module. But when I do poweroff, I get this:

[tt]Flushing ide devices: hda hdb hdc hdd
Power down.[/tt]

At that point, I can hear my hard drives spin down, but the power to the system remains on.

This worked when I installed Slackware 9 with Linux 2.4.20, when I just did "modprobe apm".

Any insights?
Thanks

I REALLY hope that helps.

Which distribution are you using and how did you "install" the kernel? From source? From an .RPM or package?

I installed the kernel from source. I built the entire system from source using the guide from LinuxFromScratch.

This forum is probably not the best place to ask my question since it is predominantly RH users.

I'll ask this question again on the LFS mailing list.

Thanks
