I have Exchange server 5.5 and a client who when opens outlook 2000 to gather their e-mail, an Internet connect dialog box will pop up asking to log on to the Internet. I turned this option off under the dial-up properties not to log onto the Internet. The problem is that it happens about 18 times. The other interesting aspect is that this only happens when the option for "Always log on when connecting" under Internet Explorer properties is turned on. I can turn this option off but the user wants it on.....So any Ideas why it might be doing this. My thinking is that when outlook is opening it is trying to resolve the Exchange server to an IP address and wants to go to the Internet to do so. I think thier might be an entry that might need to be set on my DNS server to correct this problem???? Any ideas.

Try this...

In Outlook TOOLS Services. Exchange server properties Dial up networking. Choose the DO NOT DIAL option. Otherwise when you check mail, or open Outlook, it will use your dial up networking connection to get mail.
