I have create a report with the following fields.

ProjectID ProjectName
=====================
0701-1 0701
0721-2 0721
M024-5 0782

When i tried to export to Excel, the format becomes

ProjectID ProjectName
=====================
-437924 0701
-437559 0721
M024-5 0782

Why is this so?

What is the field type in your table for the ProjectID?

If is text it should work. I have MS Acces 97 and using "file, save as/export as a Microsoft Excel 97" file works fine for me.

Not much help I know but it works for me and I do get what you you want.
