my company have a Nortel Arn Router ,it to appear a error message>>>

Starting OS Kernel for network boot...
No enabled BOOTP interfaces on this slot.
Could not proceed with network boot, will attempt a local boot.
BOOTSTRAP FAILURE: error obtaining boot files, restarting...

please help me -o-,Thanks.....

You router is set for a network boot, its looking for a config file from a remote TFTP server. No bootp server address is configured on that interface so It cant find the server so it looks for a local config file but that doesnt exist either.
It could also mean that the flash card maybe corrupt.

You can view the contents of the flash card using a programme called BNFS95 but this is only supported on WIN95/98 machines. You will then beable to find out if the flash is readable.

You can obtain BNFS95 from and then click on downloads.

You then put the flash card into the PCMCIA slot to read its contents.

Yep...sounds like it got set to network boot and the local config file is either gone, the name was changed, or it is corrupt.

If you have a laptop with 95/98 and get the BNFS95 program running, you can not only read the contents, but put files on it.

I would assume that if it is a critical router that you have the config's backed up.

Also, if it is a critical router, then you should be able to call Nortel under your support contract... :)

thank's everybody help!!
this is my practice router, but i hope to solve it.Because
is important for me.how will i went to solve?i remember to kill router's config file imprudent.i felt chagrined.

The WellFleet/Bay/Nortel routers was earlier set to boot from the network by default. I'm not quit sure how it is now. But if it can't find a image on the local flash, it will try to boot from the network.

You can stop the router with a "break" command, and then you enters a "diag" or "prom" command line, I don't remember. Then you can read the flash.

Anyway, you must put a valid image on the flash.
