Hi All,
I began working with access at the beginning of this year and since the people who have been using the database have seen the inprovements and capabilitites of a proper database they want more. They intend allowing other users to view the data, for which I designed a new front end. The problem which has appeared is permission access to the the backend data by these new users. The new users have to log on to gain access to the BE but their passwords need to be changed every 30 days and because of this the permissions on the server have to be updated with the newpassword manually. Not a thing IT are willing to do! It was suggested that the database be transfered to MYSQL from access.
We currently use a windows server enviroment. The MYSQL will be using a Novel enviroment.
What I would like to know..
Is Mysql similar to access in the way you create forms, reports ect?
How easy is it to learn?
How easy, or difficult, is it to covert the database to MySQL in these circumstances?
Any help would be appreciated.
