I think you have the W32.Navidad virus, or a derivitive of something similiar.

The virus calls a program called winsvrc.exe, but the brilliant virus programmer called it winsvrc.vxd elsewhere in his coding, so it doesnt work right, and neither does anything else on your pc. Never heard about the pictures bit, maybe you have more than one virus?

Sites like Symantec have programs, small batch jobs, that can remove these viruses' damage to your PC. if it is navidad, check this out:

There is a file there you can get to cleanup the damage, and a description of what has happened.

be aware that this little beasty spreads thru networks faster than juicy gossip, so your PC is not likely the only victim.

good luck!
Ray

( I have no affiliation with Symantec, but I have used there stuff )

FYI

The free virus scan at is helpful, but there is no substitute for the real thing. McAfee and Symantec guarantee their software is uptotheminute uptodate. You get what you pay for and if you ever spend a day or a few allnighters trying to diagnose a problem that looks a lot like a worm or virus but turns out to be neither, you'll never regret shelling out $40-$60 for a comprehensive program like Norton AntiVirus. Go to their web site, and download the 30 day trial. It will pay for itself with peace of mind.

BTW I only invested in Norton because Microsoft Tech Support kept answering my every inquiry with "Gee, it sounds like you have a virus." When I finally installed Norton, determined I did not and never had had a virus, I was able to get through to the real issues with MS Tech Support and resolve my real problems.
