Good day

Lately I have been getting these errors on Transformer and I can not seem to get an explanation for the error codes in Transformer help files. I have also been thinking of what the reason can be for these but I have no logic explanation for it. Can anyone make any suggetions please ? :->

PowerPlay Transformer Error:

(TR1901) MDC(49): could not save file (Bitmap) in
d:\cognos\production\mdc\MyCube.mdc.

The last time that the cube built successfully, were you nearing the 2GB range for the cube size? IF so, you will have to set the MultiFileThreshold value to allow for cubes to be built past 2GB in size.

I have encountered this error as well. In my particular situation, the location I was try to write the cube to was out of space. Check how much space you have available in the folder you are trying to commit the cube to.

Hi flex13

The cube is not nearly that size but what I have done is to make some setting changes in Configuration Manager in terms of the Read and Write chach. That made a difference to some of the cubes. I am not sure where the MultiFileThreshold value is chsnged. Can you please let me know about that ?sscot, thanks for your input but that did not seem to be the problem since I have 20G available. :->

Don't set your Write Cache setting higher than 65536 - this is optimal. After this level, the disk swapping overheads can actually reduce performance. Watch the sort memory as well =)

Hi Waspy

Thanks. Yes I agree on not making the cach to high. Would that go for a single processor and a dual ? Where do I find the sort memory ? :->

Processor is not an issue - the OS is used for actual assignment (although you can fiddle it if you want to assign a processor to a certain transformer build if you want, but that is OS handled). Sort memory is either in Configuration manager(View/Advanced then Services/UDA/General), or the cerX.ini (fill in the correct number for your version). Hope that helps! NB - Oh and ALWAYS use a multiple of 1024 (or 512) to set the cache sizes and sort memory - if not you can cause memory errors and crashes.

Thanks waspy, interesting .... [thumbsup2]
