I have a "play" server set up with SCO OpenServer 5.04 and Informix DS 7.3. I have had mucho problems using onload & dbimport. Also deleting chunks, dbspaces etc. using onmonitor. I signed on as informix, tried to add a chunk unsuccessfully then signed off and signed in as root. I ran onstat -d and discovered the database was offline. How can the database be online for informix user and offline for root?

I would like to start all over with a new Informix installation and pay closer attention to creaing chunks/dbspaces. What's the easiest way to re-install Informix?

I'll be more specific about problems I'm having. I tried using both onmonitor & onspaces to add a chunk to a dbspace. I created the file first with permissions 660. When I use onmonitor nothing happens (screen blanks & cursor in upper right)and I have to kill the process. When I use onspaces -a dbspace -p path -o 0 -s 5000 I get a message "Checking avail. disk space" and again the process freezes & I have to kill it. The process does add filespace to the previously empty chunk but doesn't add it to the dbspace.

I did inadvertently delete a chunk (using rm in UNIX) from another dbspace. When I bring the Informix online I get a message it can't open the missing chunk and cannot open 2 input files c & s. Could this be causing my problems in trying to add/delete chunks from other dbspaces?
