I have a question about Cox's internet options

Their premier package gives 30 mbps download and 25 mbps upload. Is this fast?

With internet like that is a "DOCSIS 3.0" modem necessary?

And we need a new router, can anyone suggest an affordable and "good" router for $50 and under?

For the US, that's fast. Actually, it's pretty fast for almost everywhere.

To get that speed I think DOCSIS 3.0 is necessary. If Cox's hardware can handle it and you put an old modem on the line it will probably still work - but a but slower - not at 30/25.

I like Linksys, but there are so many brands...
