I have a navigation bar that opens upon entry to the page. It has a nifty little sound clip that plays also. the only problem I am having is it is located on the first frame(so it will open first thing) and everytime you click the button to go back to the main page the navigation bar cycles again.

Any suggestions on what I could do to make it open on entry and not open/close again unless told to do so?

I have a Open/Close button that when activated opens the navigation bar...when activated again it closes the navigation bar.

I got frustrated after a while and put a stop frame on the MC so that it would be closed upon entry and you would have to hit the button to make it open.

I still feel that it is possible to go with my original idea if you guys can think of a way to make it work. I am all out of ideas.

Here is the link to its temporary location:

I am open to ideas also on other ways to improve the site. I am a bit limited however as the client doesn't want it to be too flashy. He also wanted the songs (as you will see) on web pages rather than in flash.

All ideas are appreciated.

Not bad for only knowing Flash for a couple months, Eh?!!!

not for me to judge by no means jeff ,but i personaly don't like that clunk -squek -loop.. but that site i must say atleast from what i have seen is very well put together..nice job..the way the underconstruction text follows the mouse..nice..hope to be as good as you guys when i grow up(unfortunatly still a flash premie)..nice work..

couldnt you set up a variable which detects the first viewing of frame one, and from that point on, disables the automatic playing of the clip?

ie: i'm guessing your buttons have a tell-target action telling the nav bar to play/open, how about just sticking a "setvariable (auto=1)" on the button too. And in the first frame of your movie stick an IF action:

If (auto=0) >> Tell Target (your clip) >> play

or something of that ilk...
