I have a file that is over 2gb that

I have a file that is over 2gb that won't fit into the vi editor. Does anyone know how I could delete the first 8 lines of the file? Also, ocassionally I will need to add or delete a line in the middle of the file. I have been looking at sed & awk but haven't had much luck yet and I am running out of time.

will chop off the first 8 lines ...
