I have a client with a Norstar 12x48 can that be upgraded to support more extensions?

It sounds like you might have a Norstar Modular ICS with 1 trunk module and a station module. In that case, yes, you could upgrade that with more stations.

You'll need to look in the cabinet and tell us if you have a card with ports in it that your trunk mod and stn mod plug into. How many ports are on the card? It will be either 2 or 6 ports.

If you have ports open on that card, you will be able to purchase another 0X16 (lines /stations) to connect to it. Each station module is capable of adding 16 stations. MRoberts

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. Right now they have 48 users. Is there any way to add more users or is the system maxed out.

Thanks

Right. I understand. The MICS is an 0X32 by default with the addition of an 0X16 stn module you have 48! So if you can look at the machine and see which card you have in it (either a two or 6 port) then we will be able to tell whether or not you can expand it further.

In either case, if you have an MICS you CAN expand it further than 48 users. You can have more like 192 users with the machine maxed out with no trunk modules. But it seems as though you have a trunk mod because you have 12 lines. The core machine can only take 8 regular lines.

Again, you CAN expand what you have but we'd need further information before we can tell you what you need to accomplish it. MRoberts
