and it is a 4x8 what do I need to do to upgrade it to a 4x16 or an 8x24.

Go into programming and look under maintenance for the system version. It will give you a SP: 30 something number. Tell us what that is.... This will help determine whether or not you truely have restricted software currently running in the system.

With that determined we can say whether or not you need a keycode to unrestrict the system (4X16 with the ability to go to 8X16 with the addition of a trunk card). Then an expansion card will take you to 8X24.

So IF you have restricted software, you will need to purchase a Key Code to unrestrict you. This will enable 8 more extensions immediately and unrestrict the second trunk card slot in the KSU, you could add a trunk card and get 8X16.
Then add an expansion card to the abbreviated slot in the KSU and you will have 8X24. MRoberts

You have CICS 2.0 non expanded.

Somebody help me out here, I'm not really sure on the older softwares what he needs to upgrade. Keycode to unrestrict then expansion card to up the extensions?? MRoberts

The easiest way will be to just replace the restricted card with the expanded version. This will give you 8x16 capability. If you really need more than 16 stations, I wouldn't put any more money into the CICS. The 8 port station card is just too expensive. I would go to the MICS 0x32 instead.

You can do software key code, or replace software cartridge with unrestricted card. After entering key code you will have an additional 8 ports(16 total). After you ad the Expansion Cartridge you get another 8 ports (24 total).

Good Luck!!

Ok now my question is what am I looking for the CICS 4.2 expanded software (8x16)?
is there a product code or could I just call my vendor and say I need CICS 4.2 Expanded and he will know what I am talking about?

I believe the following part numbers are correct:

NT7B65AABA Standard (expanded) CICS 4.2 without IRAD
NT7B65AABB Standard (expanded) CICS 4.2 with IRAD
