I have a card in a Merlin Magix System that says LS-ID TDL 617A52. Is this the same card as a 412 LS-ID TDL 617A52? If not how do I tell if I am able to add an extension. There are currently 12 extensions and two trunks on this card. Any advise is appreciated!

The card capacity of the 412 is 4 lines 12 extensions.

So for future knowledge the 617 somehow means 4 trunks and 12 lines...Is there a logical way of explaining this?

The 617 is the hardware number and the rest is software rev. When in doubt just do a Google search. The Magix and Legend cards are always named for what they offer. For example an 016 is 0 trunks and 16 extensions. An 008 is no trunks and 8 extensions. A 400 is 4 trunks and no extensions. A 408 is 4 trunks and 8 extensions.

The naming convention also applies to Partner hardware.

Your original post stated: "LS-ID TDL 617A52. Is this the same card as a 412 LS-ID TDL 617A52". The A52 part of the 617 Number denotes the 412-LSID TDL.

Legend uses modules that start with 517, and MAGIX uses 617.

I didn't go far enough in my original reply, sorry.

Thanks all. Not a problem Merlin Man you answered the question the first time and that answer sparked more interest on my part. I am learning the systems that I was given when I got this new position. I had some (very little) knowledge prior to this, but am always hungry for more. It has proven and will continue to be a learning experience with so many variables, at least the magixs and legends are nearly identical. I just appreciate everyone's willingness to answer my basic questions.
