I have a BCM400 that was working when I removed it from service.
I have it in my shop, plugged into the AC at my bench, and it won't power up.
No lights flashing, not a sound from the power supply....nothing, totally dead.
I have checked the power cord going into the Power supply and it tests fine.

I pulled at the modules, even disconnected the BFT,the HDD, and the fan...still nothing.

Would the Power Supply fail from not being used for 6 months?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a power supply. Can't say why. How long was the system in service? You can get a replacement power supply pretty easily.

Thanks for the replies.

I will pursue a Power Supply replacement.

jsaad...I believe the PS has a manufacture date of 07 on it. Likely been in service for 10 years.

Thanks again for the advice.

Good idea. I've seen seized up fans prevent a system from powering up. Try disconnecting the case fan and see if the system powers on. If so, power it off to prevent overheating. Also check the CPU fan and see that it is plugged in and spinning freely.

Did you turn the switch to on? it's at the back on the PS.
Has to ask, it's not a BCM50.

As expected the power supply was the culprit. I now have it running. All the LED's are working it appears.

No success trying to log into it though....tried every User name and Password combo I could find.

I was thinking maybe it was a Java issue, I am using an old laptop with XP and an older version of Java...5.0 update 6.

Does anyone see an issue with this combo?

Thanks

How are you logging in?. Are you using the browser if it is the older BCM 400 3.X or 2.x Windows NT version or the BCM 400 4.0 that uses Linux via the BCM Element Manager tool?.

It's a java issue...
If using Element Manager you would get a "device error" pop window instead of the "bad user or password" window.
If browser then it wont load.

Yes always note the release number when posting.

The linux password we can sort out but not on public forums.
