does anyone know what i can do to bypass the username/password or better yet get the u/p... resset the pass Anything:)

thanx

i phoned up Dlink and they told me that there is nothing i can do. And they said i cant return the modem. so i just got ripped off unless i can get this dam thing to work.

i made a program to try all the passwords in the console but i don’t know what the username is. without the username this will never work in my life time :(.

does anyone know anything i could do.

THANX

from an electronics theory, the password will be stored on an EPROM / EEPROM chip in the router - you could theoretically strip the router down, identify the chip, then wipe it / read the password off it / reset the password.

Without a wiring schematic & instructions on how to do this, you'll have to be pretty hot on electronics to do this.

I don't suppose you could write a program to go try every username/password combination? It sounds like the router doesn't oeprate an "invalid password" lockout.

BTW, In most countries, you have a right to return the modem to the guy you bought it off (even though it's second hand) - uness you knew before buying it that you wouldn't be told the password, then the goods sold do not fulfil the specification.
Alternatively, maybe you can convince the seller to tell you the username / password!

Make use of the EBay Feedback system - if the seller won't help you, feel free - if you think it's appropriate - to leave negative feedback. <marc>[ul]help us help![li]please give us feedback on what works / doesn't[/li][li]not sure where to start? click here: faq581-3339[/li][/sup][/ul][/sup]

umm i dont know how to do this could someone help me :)

There is no reset button on this router?

I mean I've NEVER seen one that couldnt be reset.

for security, passwords aren't always reset by a hard reset.

True but things like routers generally only need to be protected remotely, with physical access being restricted.
