I had a worm virus and lost all my programs. I ran the recovery disk, but it did not bring back my Quickbooks, excel files, etc. Can they be recovered?

It depends on what damage the worm did to your system It also depends on what actions you took to recover from the damage the worm did. In general if a virus attacks the hard disk of a computer the results can be anything from simple (non-destructive) to severe (total destruction). In the first case you can get rid of the virus very easily. In the latter you will have a problem in recovering anything from the disk. In the interim cases there are various ways of recovering the data.

In all cases you should have made a backup of any critical files. With this backup and the identity of the virus, you should be able to assess what actions you need to take to recover your system.

For the information on virii, I suggest that you look at http:\\
