I got a pop up list without defining it!?

I was entering text into a field ("Vendors&quot when up popped a list of all the "Vendors" I had ever entered in that field. I must have been inadvertantly holding down a keyboard command, but I don't know what it was. I could really take advantage of this feature if someone could advise me of how to access it.

You probably hold down the Ctrl key and hit the 'I' key.
When in a field, this will give you an 'index' from all the values from that field in the records of a file.
