I get "#Deleted" in every field after going to next record

I have a form that users should be able to both update or add records. If they add a record by filling out all appropriate fields and then go to the next record (using the enter key)to enter another item, all of the fields of the record they just entered say "#Deleted" in it. But if I exit the form and then go back into it, the new record is there just as they entered it. Any ideas as to what is happening? THanks ...
