I find this message in my errorlog of sybase server

Worker Thread Manager is not enabled for use in SQL Server

Should i worry about ? Does this mean that sybase server is not enabled for working with threads ? Wim Vanherp
Wim.Vanherp@belgacom.net

hello,

the worker thread manager is enabled for parallel access... this is used for DSS and batch applications, which are prone to become i/o bound... these types of applications involve queries that scan a large proportion of the tables and return summary data... this improves the response time...

by default, parallel access is not enabled...
for the optimizer to consider any parallel access method, parallel processing must be enabled at the server level with sp_configure...

for more info, check out the performance and tuning guide online...

hth,
q.
