I fel like an idiot but..

I installed the SMTP service on win2k (part of IIS 5). I only need this server to send outbound mail. I have tried to configure the damn thing but I can get mail to the server from a client but the mail sits in the Queue directory and just sits there. I tried creating a remote domain and made the smarthost my DNS and then my SMTP gateway linux host and even my Exchange server but to no avail. I could use a little help.
