I.E 6 Cannot download anything?

When trying to download anything I get a page with a small icon in the upper left hand corner, and that's it. Nothing else happens. I am running 2000 pro. Thanks in advance

In IE Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck the box 'Enable Third-Party browser extensions.'

Reboot and test.

The third party enable broswer was checked. I unchecked it and rebooted, but still have the same thing happing.

Could you specify whether this happens with any file type, or only .exe files or some other specific file extension?

For .exe files:

You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading
Internet Explorer

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been
installed.
The key does not normally exist.

Similarly, check other file extensions where you have an issue.

Hello again
I went to the reg key and foung the exe. string nothing was there, but deleted it anyway with no results. When I download any kind of file exe., zip., ect. I get the small icon in the upper left hand corner, and at the bottom left corner it say's done.
