I.E. 5.5 keeps downloading my pop-ups?

I notice that when I use I.E. 5.5 and I click on my pop-up menu, as I go up and down the menu choices, i.e. 5.5 keeps downloading the images. The end result is the styles don't always appear right away, it appears the images seem to hang and take a while to download. If I use hotspot rather then slices the problems doesn't happen in i.e. 5.5.

Note:
Whether I use slices or hotspot netscape 4.79 doesn't have a problem. Any insight into why i.e. 5.5 keeps downloading the images would be helpful. Thank you.

Never seen it happen myself- but I don't use images for that... maybe you could check that the images are preloaded in the body tag. Might also be something to do with your cache- could be worth checking the metatags.
