hi EveryBody,
I'm so new with SourceSafe and trying to install VSS 6.0 on my Web Server. My programmers use Visual Interdev to check out/check in files they work. My question is: I didn't set any working folder (I can also see it in VSS Explorer), and my programmers can still work so well. Is there somme one who can tell my if i'm wrong and if that, what should i do? All the programmers have their local copy in their working station.
Thank you for your help.

Everyone that uses the project has his or her own working folder. So suppose everyone works on the computer's own harddisk or the user's private network drive. Every time the user checks out a file, it is copied from the sourcesafe database.
You can see there would be a conflict if two users would use the same (shared) network folder is multiple checkouts are allowed!

There is also something called a 'shadow folder'. This is a folder on a shared piece of the network that contains a read-only version of the latest version of all the files in the project.
