I coach a volleyball team and would like to break down game footage.

There are several high end apps that do this but for a high school team the cost is prohibitive.

Basically the program would have 3 parts:

1) Load in game video. Scrub the video manually for the user to select end of play marks. Create a "Play EDL" list.
2) Using the edl video segment lis, t document the play clip (won, lost, player touch, rotation etc.). Create a PlayInfo file for each segment.
3) Allow end-user to query all the playinfo files to build reference clips of eg. All plays lost/won/errors etc.

I originally thought of editing the original game video and building the 100 clips separately out but think I can work with a "play EDL" list just as well.

I tried building a few quick apps with WMP and also VLC integrated in VBA and was successful playing video etc.
The only details would be access of slow speed / reverse/ loop/ and time reference.

I'm posting this here hoping for suggestions or even causes to use another language (java/python etc.)

thx ahead
