HELP

Have you installed any of the service packs? Have you scanned for viruses?

I had something like this happen on a Windows 2000 machine (the printer part, anyways), and after three days we reinstalled the damn thing. Jennifer Sigman

Sounds like maybe a problem with TCP/IP.

Here's something i found to try relating to your error:

"click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network. Select your Adapter and click Properties, then go to the listed protocols (ie. TCP/IP). If you see more than one instance of TCP/IP bound to your Adapter, you'll need to remove one of them. There must be only one TCP/IP item checked."

If it were me, I'd go to a cmd prompt, do an ipconfig /release, then go back in and uninstall all protocols, then reinstall them. Reboot, and reenter your ipaddresses or let DHCP take over depending on what type of network you are on. If you cant get into your NIC protocols, try safe mode, or remove the NIC from device manager and try a different one.

I think it's in the network config, however. That or something recently installed overwrote some .dll's you need to manage your network connections. Unfortunately, this is pretty hard to find stuff. But - i'd bank on it being something software-related that can be fixed without a reinstall of the os.

Sounds like fun, eh?! hehehe ;) pbxman

This is the wierdest thing. I installed Service Pack 3 restarted no change. I am not able to check the tcp/ip properties due to the unexpected error. I can still print to everything but I can't select printers or view printers. I was thinking some misc dll also. I have sooo many misc programs on the computer who knows. I've check the services and the policys, and created a new profile and it does the same thing. Its soo stupid that its funny.
