I wanted to uninstall Dreamweaver 4, but it keeps giving me an error saying "The InstallShield Engine (ikernel.exe) could not be launched."

When I start up my computer, it also gives me an error saying. PNCRT.dll is missing and there could be some kind of connection for these two. How do I register a .dll file under Start/Run?

sometimes i fing that uninstalling a program with their uninstall tool works better than windows' add/ermove programs, and vice versa, so you may try that, or the uninstall file got deleted somehow. or something else

Can you re-install it first and then un-install it. This sometimes works. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

The missing file is for Real Player. You have 3 different ways to replace it

(1) Uninstall it and reinstall it. If you are using the version that comes with Windows do it from Control Panel / Add Remove Programs / Windows Setup / Internet Tools.

(2) If you are using the Windows supplied version you can extract it from the cabs using Start button / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Information / System File Checker, Extract one file. Enter 'pncrt.dll' in the box after clicking on the radio button and select \windows\system as the destination location.

(3) Download it from:

and put in the \windows\system.

The InstallShield probably cannot be launched do to a software conflict. Try going into Safe Mode and uninstall from there. This usually works.
Your mileage may vary...
