My name is Ryan and I'm 14. I know this forum is for proffesioinals but I love grapghic design and I got Illustrator 10 for christmas and I'm having some problems trying to fill and object that I've drawn.

I used the line tool (just straight lines and curved lines)to create my object. All the endpoints of the line segments touch each other but when i go to fill the object only the curved line segments fill with clolor, the rest just stays clear?

I've tried online tutorials and stuff but I can't seem to find any information. I know that it's probably something really simple. I think this program is really cool but I'm really frustrated and don't want to go back to using paintbrush to design my art!!!

If anyone can help me that would be really cool.

Hi Ryan,
I think you are using the wrong tool. If you want to creat an object to fill with color, you should use the Pen tool. That tool will allow you to make straight OR curved lines together in the same object and then you can fill it with color. If you use the line tool, then you have to connect the lines you've made before you can fill the connected lines with color. When you want to fill an object, you select that object, then click on the fill box (from the tool bar) and then select a color from the color menu. Hope this helps you.
