I can't seem to add members to a calling group. I chose 772 as 770 and 771 are in use. I want all 23 extensions in this group. What needs to happen is a DID will point to calling group 772. They want all phones to ring at the same time. So I tried to add members to 772 and I just get an error beep for any extension I try to add. Also, I don't seem to see an option for all phones to ring at the same time. Just linear, most idle and circular.

What this needs to replace is a line button for a line that if it rings must ring all phones. It's the bosses private mumber to get through at any time when the system is on night service or lunch schedule.

Well, that's not really a REALISTIC REQUEST. I know, you always like to do what the CUSTOMER wants, but this is almost never done.

Why do they need this?

Did they not get D-I-D's with this PRI?

But, If they just ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY have to have this feature, then here's what I would consider the best way to do it:

Put everyone in the NIGHT SERVICE GROUP. Then, with night service activated, ALL EXTENSIONS WILL RING WHEN ANY EXTENSION GETS A CALLED.

But again, they want this, WHY???

A later release of Software has an ALL RING OPTION, but it is very bad, NOTHING WILL EVER GO TO VOICE MAIL.

But really, do they REALLY want this.

The Night Service thing will show them in about an hour or less that "THEY REALLY DON'T WANT THIS"!

I am sure of that.

I don't think they have the concept down of how their system is going to behave with the PRI Service, but that's just my theory.

Thanks. Maybe I was not clear. They want one, and only one DID to ring all extensions. Right now 4 of 23 phones ring. When the owner of that DID calls in they want all phones to ring and be answered "Hello boss" by the first person who can grab the call. That's how it works now, one line is on all phones set for immediate ring. I need to duplicate that with the PRI service and its DIDs. I really need a solution and night service is not an option because it must do this 24x7. I know I can do this on the Partner, IPO, NEC, and Comdial. The Magix seems to be an exception.

Loop a S/L station to a trunk port. Don't put the trunk into any pools, but assign it to all the phones. Point the DID to the S/L station. Boss calls in, everyone's "hotline" button starts ringing.

Tommy - wow, thanks. OK, let me see if I have this right. I need a SLT to start. I will have no active trunk lines so I assume I just plug the phone into say 801?? Then I put 801 on all phones and set for immediate ring. Then I point the DID to 801. If I have that right I never would have assumed I could point a DID to an analog trunk. Is the SLT needed for continuity or something?

No, the DID points to the Single Line extension. When it rings, it is ringing into a trunk port, which is assigned to the phones, so it looks like a "line" is ringing in from the boss.

Would this work? I have an 016 ETR card. What if I plugged a 18D into an extension and mapped the DID to that extension? I could then put a cover button on all the phones for that extension. I have button space available. I could label the extension "Boss" so people would see it in their display. But somewhere I seem to recall you could only cover one extension to 18 extensions? Is that correct?

Tommy - AHHHH sooo. I see. I'd use a 2 way splitter in the SLT extension and connect one end to the phone and one to 801. Got it!

2-way splitter? No, just pick a Single Line extension port - If you have an ETR card, you can set any of the last (top) 6 ports to be single line instead of ETR. Run a line cord from that port (not used for anything else, so no splitter needed) to a trunk port.

OK, now I do get it. I was wondering why a phone was needed. I'll need to set 6 of those up for SL as I have fax machines that will go on the ETR.
