hello,
phone_line_test-min_ds1jze.jpg

I have this working M7310, which i grabbed from site1, at site1 i have 3 phone lines from Bell Canada so i do not miss any calls.
I went to site2 with this M7310 and plugged it in the port to check a phone line, but all I am able to see is black triangles(see photo),
no dial tone, no display, please can you tell me how to fix it so I can test phone lines at site2. (phone lines at site2 are also from Bell Canada)
Please can you tell me how to make it work.
Best Regards

I recall seeing this when I have been checking ports on a phone system and had plugged into an analogue exchange line port.

I'm guessing that you are plugging the phone into an extension port off a Norstar / BCM phone system and not something else?.

You are using the right port under the phone.
When you plug a phone into a digital jack on the wall which is from the Norstar phone system then wait a minute or so for it to boot up.

That means these phones are digital and only work with the Norstar phone system that is on the wall somewhere?

You may need to call a vendor in your city since it's not a Bell issue.

Both sites have same BCM system? same version?
Or you have Norstar at site A and BCM at site B?
Maybe the set is too old to be supported to the site B.
Just a thought...

One other thing to note is when the jack has dial tone from the carrier(an actual POTs line) then those lower buttons will light up and steady steady, maybe flicker every so often.
Beware of that because if a call comes in then that is 90 volts when it rings and will damage your digital phone.

The way I read the OP is that the phone, which is a digital station, is being plugged directly into POTS lines? Or does Bell Canada offer some unique service where they serve line(s) as Norstar/BCM digital stations?
