I can't get any sound from my intergrated sound card

SoundMax came with my Asus mobo. When I first built this comp. everything worked, but now I can't get any sound from it. All the drivers are loaded, When I bring up SoundMax it says that all's loaded but just not started. What does this mean? SoundMax is started in the services.msc, and there is no option in the program to make it my default sound device. Everything is blurred out,(not accessable). Has anyone had this problem? I've been battling this problem for three weeks. I've just about given up, but I want to play cd's from my rom, but I can't. Please help. Thanks

Check device manager for any problems (assuming your using windows) Make sure you have the latest drivers (get them from the MOBO mfg. site on the net).

have you checked your bios?

it might be disabled there...
