Until today, and for the last 6 months our workgroup LAN has worked flawlessly. This morning everything was fine. After returning from lunch I tried to access one particular workstation where I share folders and got the message "The network path was not found" C Drive is not accesible on XXX. The rest of the workstations are accessible. The network is running under W2000 Pro. I checked the computer, the drives are shared, the users have the permission. I turned it on and off as well as the remote peers, turned off the switch, changed the computer to another port and nothing worked. Any ideas please? Thank you.

Can the machine see the rest of the network,
may be a failed NIC, damaged patch cable, What do you use for name resolution, Does it have a valid IP\Netmask, Has someone tried to set up ICS?. More info needed

Chris.

The referenced workstation cannot see the rest of the network. I can't even see itself. Cables have been checked as well they are fine. I do not understand what you mean in the rest of yr questions, I do know though that ICS was not an issue. Hope this helps. Should I try replacing the NIC first?

If this PC has the exact same config as all the other PCs that ARE talking, then I'd start my efforts by eliminating hardware from being the cause. If you know the cable is good, swap in a known-good NIC.

Problem is solved. Tks, don't know how, but NetBeui was removed, just reinstalled it and it worked.

Thx.
