I am in a real bind. I am trying to connect to http://
localhost:631 in order to install CUPS to install my
printer HP-Deskjet_890C and it just does not work.

Everytime I try (even on different computers on a network) I get the same error message:

"An error occurred while loading Could not connect to host localhost (port 631)."

Who is the localhost, is it my computer ??

Your help will be much appreciated.

Charles.

Thank you Chacalinc for your prompt reply.
\My was a typing mistake, it should have been

I am glad your cleared that for me that the localhost IS
the current PC.

Now my next question: how to you install CUPS on a
Linux Slax-Live CD configuration ?

Thank you very much for your help.
Charles.

in Live-CD? in order to install new software, linux should be installed in your hard drive...

anyway, I don't know what kind of package manager uses Slax, but you have rpm (redhat-based) and apt (debian-based):

rpm -ivh cups-XXXXX.rpm

-or-

apt-get install cupsys

Cheers.
