I got a problem with Photo Paint 12:

If I start the program, start a new file, select a color and click on the Paint Tool (the brush from the Toolbar)... NOTHING appears on my screen when I draw something on the canvas. PP does recognize it as a brush stroke though, since I am offered to repeat the stroke in the Edit menu.

If I reverse front- and backcolor, I CAN paint with the eraser :-S

How can I get this back to normal? I'm afraid there is some corrupt setting somewhere, but I cannot find it... maybe I am doing something stupid myself??

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Marcel Kreijne

I have the same problem!! Have you resolved your issues? I have an email into corel and am waiting for an answer...
If you can help me I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Thanks!

Unfortunately I still have not solved the issue... as a matter of fact I have switched back to the program I upgraded from: Paint Shop Pro, which I start to appreciate more and more...

Keep me posted if you get response from Corel!

Thanks!

It sounds like you have a corrupt profile. Did you reset your workspace to factory defaults by holding down F8 as the app starts until you get a dialog box asking you to reset?

PSP is a very good app, too. Some things are better in it, some things are better in PP. I tend to use both depending on what I'm doing.

That's it! Problem solved. Thanks JavaBear!

You are now my new hero, JavaBear!!!!

Thanks so much!

This can happen now and then, although it seems to vary from person to person. I've rarely had a corrupt profile w/v11 or 12. I did have it more often with older versions.

Once you've configured your workspace to the way you like it, you'll wanna back it up just for situations like this because the F8 trick will wipe out any/all customizations you've done. That's certainly not a big deal if your workspace is backed up, because then you can just reload that workspace once you've wiped it back to factory defaults.
