Hi guys, I've been driving myself crazy for the past day and half trying to figure this out. I got a Compaq Presario V2000 about 2 months ago, and I haven't done very much on it. The only programs I have installed are Firefox, iTunes, and AIM. The problem is that I was using a wireless connection to get online (from my Desktop PC) and it worked for a while, and then I got the error that ccProxy.exe had failed. After that, I couldn't view any websites. It was as though I couldn't connect, except I could still use AIM and I could ping the websites and get a responce, I just couldn't view them at all. If I restarted, I could start viewing websites again until the ccProxy.exe failed again. Finally, about a week ago, I couldn't view websites at all. I tried reseting my wireless connection, all the settings I checked looked fine, I even did a system restore to the day after I got the laptop. Still nothing. I'm considering uninstalling Norton Antivirius and reinstalling it, but I don't know. Does anyone have any idea of what else I can try? Thanks.

As I understand it, ccProxy.exe, is part of Norton's Internet "security" suite. I guess you're secure...no chance of visiting malicious websites :)

At any rate....I am not familiar with that product but you could disable it outright and see if that fixes the problem. If it does you should be able to configure it to allow for access to websites.

I uninstalled Norton Security System, and it still doesn't work. Anybody got any other ideas?

What about the device at the other end of the wireless connection? From your original post it sounds as if that might be your Desktop PC. Is it dropping anything in its firewall log?

Also -- what browser version? What error message(s) do you receive when attempting to open a web site/page?

The device on the other end is fine. I'm using it to connect to another laptop, and that one works perfectly. As I said, I am getting an excellent connection, it's just that I can't view sites. As for browser, I used IE 6, Firefox 1.5, and I have no idea of which Netscape version. I don't get any error messages, it just doesn't load the page. It even says "Web site found. Waiting for reply..." at the bottom, except it doesn't load it. And this for all sites, google, yahoo, everything.
