I/C and P/O

we started using Po to update the inventory 3 months ago. We have stopped because the person in charge was fired (lol )only Purchase Order Were raising for about 3 months.Can we just insert the new balances for the inventory using The receipts ignoring those pending Purchase order

1.)What would be the consequences ?
2.)Any fastest way to update my Inventory ?
3.)kindly advise me

Continue using PO... that should be a no brainer.
