I am using Partition Magic 7.0 and what would be the best number of patitions for a 40gb hard drive

It pretty much depends upon what the drive will be used for and what file system(s) and/or OS's you plan on running. Doug

Hi frogo;

One of the common ways is setting up 1 partition for your OS and support files and the remainder for data files. But you can expand on that by using another partition for application programs. Add a partition for private data files, etc. What you plan to do will dictate how you set it up. Remember that the advantage of Partition Magic is your decisions are not etched in stone. You can re-allocate at any time.

Hope this helps.

Ed Please let me know if the sugestion(s) I provide are helpful to you.
