I am using Cold Fusion 4.0 and like

Well...
would be the first choice... but if I'm not mistaken, that wasn't in CF 4.0.
So the next choice would be a third-party custom tag.
And which tag you choose would probably depend on the OS you're running under (most Windows CFEXECUTE replacements use .DLLs, for example, that wouldn't run under UNIX).
Check out Macromedia's Developer Exchange at
and click on the "Seach Exchanges" button in the upper right to search for "execute" in the ColdFusion exchange.
Or do a web search for something like "coldfusion custom tag execute" for a broader selection.
