i am using a win2000 achine with IE through a proxy server. I have to authenticate with a username and password. since i change my password I have been unable to access the internet. I just keeps returning the username and password box, as though somehting is wrong. another user is able to access the internet from my machine so nothing can be wrong with settings. Also, i can access the internet from his machine so my account is right? I can only think that my previous password has been cached but I don't know where to look to delete it.

Which password did you change, is it the network logon password, Windows password, ISP password or something else? If your passwords are cached, you may have to delete the .pwl file in the WinNT subdirectory and re-enter them.

What is most likely is that the password you have changed is being sent through to the ISP logon, where it is incorrect. To test this, enter your ISP username and password when you get the box come up.

Hope this helps

the username and password are to authenticate through my proxy. I have tried removing the 'save password tick' and re-entering my details but nothing still happens. Lamaar75@hotmail.com
