I am a VB6.0 programmer and use MS SQL 7.0 Database and I need to get information off another system which is Pervaisive 2000i. I have the DDF files from our vendor but I don't know what to do from here. I loaded the workstation version of Pervaisive on my PC but what do I need to do to connect it to the server?

HELP

If you need to do a quick export of your data you can take a look at BtSearch at It allows you to export to dbase or ascii formats which can be imported into about anything else. Gil

or just get a sql query tool and connection via odbc and export data, or do the same using crystal reports and file.ddf

I know my ddf file are working because I used the BtSearch and that works but I can not get the ODBC connection to work. What would I be doing wrong? Our Persasive database is on a separtate server in the back room and I would like a connection from my pc, do I have to set something specific on the server?

If you use the ODBC administrator you should be able to setup the system DSN to your DDF and data files. Are you getting a specific error message? Gil

When I try to make a system odbc with the Client DNS setup, I put in the server name for the address of the server and click the Get DNS List and nothing is put in the drop down list. Do I then need to set up a Engine DNS, if so should the drop down for the database be in the list, because it is empty. I am a SQL 7.0 man and this is really frustrating. thanks

You should use the Pervasive Control Panel to add the database to it first. Once added then in the ODBC administrator select the Pervasive ODBC Engine interface. You should now see the file that you added in the Pervasive Control panel listed in the list of Database names. Gil

I had the same problem. Look at your TCP/IP assignments. Make sure the PC you are using and the server are on the same TCP network.
