First, if you have another mouse handy, check to see if another mouse works. If you have an optical mouse, optical USB-PS/2(adapter) or standard USB, you may want to reinstall the drivers. If it is PS/2, try checking the mouse properties in the control panel to see if your settings are correct. Check to see if your right mouse button is working properly by setting it to the left hand setting in the properties panel. If you need to check file properties until then, you can hold the "alt" key & double-click. This will give you the file properties. This will work in explorer view but not in tree view.
When you are in left-hand mode, be sure you keep the control panel open since you may lose the abilty to double- click (left click in default mode). To return settings to right hand, mouse over the mouse property icon and left click to get your menu, then mouse over the "open" and hit enter. You can then arrow over to select right hand again and hit enter.
Else, you may want to replace your mouse. Hope this helps
